Yum! Lulu’s Bread & Bagels opened in October of 2005. The owner chose Fairbanks because it became home; it has a great community and two superb Nordic ski areas and miles of running trails.
Lulu’s is a bakery specializing in artisan breads, bagels and pastries. It also serves sandwiches, homemade soups and espresso coffees (using Kaladi Brothers Coffee from Anchorage). “We have a very loyal following and are happy to have a friendly atmosphere where people gather,” said Tamara Rose, Lulu’s owner. “We also sponsor many community events and host an annual run from which all proceeds go to the local Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training.
Tamara Rose and her crew are passionate about providing a warm place for friends and family to gather, and to provide wholesome, handmade artisan breads and high quality espresso.
Lulu’s supports KUAC because of the quality and depth of the news, both on national and local levels. “I also enjoy the music, which is provided in a variety of forms, along with commentary and education. KUAC is simply a binder of the community. I often find myself talking with friends about stories and news items we’ve heard on the station,” Rose said.
In addition to KUAC, Lulu’s also sponsors Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra and Fairbanks Arts Association and will be hosting artists for First Friday events.
During KUAC’s fundraisers, volunteers go wild for Lulu’s bagels, munching them as they arrive or between calls in the phone bank. Lulu’s has been a mainstay for helping KUAC treat volunteers kindly and will do the same during the 2017 Fall Fundraiser Oct. 14-22.
