ACRC Has Passion for Coffee and KUAC
Alaska Coffee Roasting Co. has been serving specialty coffee to Fairbanksans since 1993. After living in Kenya for 10 years and visiting coffee producing countries around the globe to study their methods, owner Michael Gesser decided to share his passion for java with friends and neighbors.
ACRC, KUAC’s featured corporate sponsor for January, specializes in single estate varietal coffee beans, obtained from around the globe and roasted in-house. The Ethiopian Yirgacheffe is ACRC’s longstanding signature coffee and the daily espresso is an ever-changing mix of beans that create a strong, sweet, smooth and balanced blend.
To accompany the coffee are breakfasts, lunches and dinners, along with specialty pastries and treats.
“This is a good place for people to come together and speak face to face,” said ACRC’s general manager Tamara Shirley. “It’s a community gathering place. We have regulars who come every day.”
ACRC supports public broadcasting in Interior Alaska because owner Gesser loves KUAC, particularly the FM programming featuring politics and world news. “He supports UAF as much as possible,” Shirley said.
A second ACRS is located in Miami, Florida, a true “sister store,” as Gesser’s sibling manages that operation. Discover store menus and hours at alaskacoffeeroasting.com.
