t the annual Volunteer Appreciation Event, Susie was named the “Volunteer of the Year” and recognized with the crystal “Spirit of KUAC” award, which recognizes “Commitment to Excellence” in service to KUAC.
Congratulations, Susie!
For twenty years, KUAC on-air announcer Susie Hackett has volunteered and hosted Afternoon Concert as well as the Sunday Opera Show and After the Opera, in addition to interviewing countless artists in the KUAC studios.
The nomination by a community member stated: “Susie does a great job announcing and hosting programs, which is not surprisingly considering her background in theater … She has a calm, reassuring voice with sufficient modulation to be interesting but not so much to be overly dramatic.”
Congratulations, Susie, and thank you for all your hard work and dedication to public broadcasting in Alaska!
