KUAC Community Advisory Committee member Tim Carrier was recognized as our Volunteer of the Year at the annual KUAC Volunteer Appreciation Event Tuesday night (See photos and a video on KUAC’s Facebook timeline). Tim earned the crystal Spirit of KUAC award, for “Commitment to Excellence” in service to KUAC, thanks to his willingness to answer the call of duty for virtually every event KUAC holds — often bringing along a whole platoon of volunteers from the 168th Alaska Air Guard Refueling Wing. Congratulations, Tim, and thank you for your sincere and honorable commitment to public broadcasting in Alaska!

KUAC celebrated the life-saving efforts contributed by our volunteers on Tuesday, April 17th, 2012 at the Annual Volunteer Appreciation event. The festive atmosphere was sunny with lots of smiles as KUAC staff, and our volunteers, family and friends enjoyed build-your-own ice cream sundaes, music by Pantheon Steel Drum band, and Polaroid photos by Greer and Rachelle – as you can see in this wonderful video of the event compiled by KUAC TV’s Aaron Elterman – as well as in digital photographs by Deb Lawton, Aaron Elterman, and Lisa Scerbak. Last week, Jimmy and Vicki Tohill proved what intrepid and devoted fans of KUAC TV they are when they made a “sweat-equity” donation to restore service due to snow blocking the satellite dish near Healy. They shoveled out an eight-foot drift, for the love of KUAC programming they’d been missing. Read more about their four-plus hour undertaking on our Facebook page! Read More
