In My Element women’s boutique is celebrating 10 years in business this spring. The shop, located in Artisan’s Courtyard on College Road, provides a personal shopping experience to women ages 17 to 100.

Owner Sheryl DeBoard said she caters to those looking for casual, business, executive and special occasion attire and footwear.

DeBoard, who grew up in Fairbanks and earned a geophysics degree at UAF, recalls the days when the city had hardly any shops and she had to do her clothes shopping from the Sears catalog. She professes a lifelong love for fabrics and textiles, and does all the buying for the shop, ordering a year ahead from exclusive lines. But while DeBoard is wild for fashion, she is just as concerned about customer service. “I know most of our customers by name and greet them with hugs and hellos,” she said.

She chooses to support KUAC because it’s local and “offers something different to the community, just like I do.”
