Elementary school teacher Marc Harnum realized that life can be enhanced by coffee but two years ago he got interested in improving his cup of morning joe by roasting beans himself.

It went so well he started a side business, Deep Breadth Coffee, which provides coffee with a personal touch. “Coffee is amazing when it’s fresh,” Marc said. “We have a niche of fresh roasted coffee delivered quietly to your door.”

The business is a fun way for Marc to share his love of coffee with friends and neighbors. “It’s fun to do and we would love to be able to sustain a long-term roasting business, due to the demand of fresh, roasted to order, coffee,” he said.

Marc emphasizes customer service and developing relationships in the community. Prior to becoming a teacher, Marc worked in the food service industry for 18 years, where he learned to appreciate public broadcasting, listening as he worked in the kitchen. “I listen to KUAC FM constantly and we support it as a family so I’m happy to contribute as a business too,” Marc said.

“Life is about the journey, not the destination,” Marc commented. “It’s cliché, but it’s got to be someone’s plan. It might as well be ours.”
