KUAC Volunteers are worth their weight in gold! Now in our 50th year, volunteers continue to make KUAC’s public broadcasting mission sustainable. To honor them, the Spirit of KUAC Award is presented annually to a volunteer for exceptional service.
By serving in many roles, from on-air hosts, phone volunteers, and pitch talent during our FM Fall Fundraiser, to committee members who assist in fundraising, special events, and outreach, volunteers make our public broadcasting mission possible. Help us by nominating that special volunteer below!
Nominations are due by Friday, April 12th at 5 p.m.
This prestigious award is presented at the KUAC Annual Volunteer Appreciation Event – held this year on Tuesday, April 23rd at 5:30 p.m. in the Great Hall at UAF. Plan to be a part of it as we pay tribute to an outstanding volunteer, who will join past recipients, including:

- 2006 John “Alaska Jahn” Lysen
- 2007 Tim “T-Man” Sprout
- 2008 Lisa Sporleder
- 2009 Davey Lacey (posthumously)
- 2010 Susie Hackett

Spirit of KUAC Award Eligibility
- Nominee must be a KUAC volunteer.
- Nominee’s accomplishments must exceed normal job responsibilities and/or demonstrate significant, consistent, and dependable performance within the past year.
- Nominee must embody the characteristics of the three key commitment areas of KUAC:
COMMITMENT TO ORGANIZATION
Communicates and supports KUAC’s mission, vision and values
Inspires pride in the organization
Helps to make positive changes within KUAC and the community
COMMITMENT TO PEOPLE
Demonstrates cooperation and teamwork in accomplishing results

Shows genuine concern for and encourages others
