As we look back at last week’s royally successful fundraiser, we appreciate exceeding our goal by almost 10% because we had 110% support from volunteers. Thoughtful contributions from countless others across our community helped, including a rush-order for signs from Graphic North, chair massages by Joy Van Dyke of Campus Massage, and Jim Schneider’s digital KUAC Scrapbook which captured much of our 50-year history. With this archive, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner put together a comprehensive and enlightening article about KUAC’s 50th anniversary!
We are especially grateful for the wonderful food and refreshments from: Airport Way Safeway, Alaska Coffee Roasting Company, Fairbanks Bottled Water Company, Fred Meyer West, l’assiette de Pomegranate, LuLu’s Bread and Bagels, Odom Corporation, Sourdough Fuel & Food Marts, River City Café & Espresso, Pike’s Landing, The Cookie Jar Restaurant, UAF Dining/Catering Services, and Wolf Run Restaurant.
Congratulations to the winners of the Cole Brothers Trip of a Lifetime: Mike Powers and Terry Spires, who will be given a custom tour of the News-Miner building and Fairbanks City Hall (plus free parking!). The celebration has begun for the winners of KUAC’s SECOND trip giveaway to see A Prairie Home Companion: Ken McFarland and Dennis Rogers, of Fairbanks. They will travel in February via Alaska Airlines, which donated the roundtrip tickets, to “sunny” St. Paul, MN. There they will meet Garrison Keillor and his merry radio performers, enjoy rehearsal dinner with the cast, and then watch the show from the stage!
