KUAC FM – now broadcasting in HD! |

 |
You may have heard the new KUAC ID's over our airwaves now that we are broadcasting in HD. KUAC is proud to be the first radio station in interior Alaska to implement the new "HD" digital radio service. The question on everybody's mind is... Will this affect my current radio signal? No! |
- Unlike the TV digital conversion, this service is an optional supplement, not a mandatory replacement.
- No need to retune your radio or change your listening habits.
- If you buy an HD-capable radio, you can experience KUAC FM radio with CD quality sound, and increased reliability.
- KUAC will be able to add special features in the future and HD opens the door for multiple program streams.
HD radio is a new technology that allows broadcasters to seamlessly transmit digital-quality audio alongside today's analog-based broadcasts in a "hybrid digital" format. Most new cars now come equipped with it as a standard feature. Eventually, we may be able to provide data services such as song and artist information, weather and traffic alerts, and more, on your HD radio display.
Since we are once again on the cutting edge of technology, few places in town currently stock HD radios, but that should soon change. Models are available online and in some personal musical devices. While KUAC already features a variety of programs, with HD we can expand your listening options in the future. We're connecting Alaska to the world, and we're doing it now with HD. More information about HD Radio, including ordering one, is available at hdradio.com.
